Historic Day for Our Health and Food Movement

PROP65.jpgToday, July 7, 2017, was a historic day for our movement. It is the day that the California EPA’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Agency (OEHHA) officially listed glyphosate on the Prop 65 list warning list as a carcinogen. The implications are huge. Within a year, all companies with ten employees or more who manufacture products that expose humans to glyphosate will need to label that product with a warning such as “This product may contain a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.”

This is huge news for health advocates and regulators in other states and countries around the world who want more evidence to transition away from using glyphosate and toxic chemicals.

Trump: We Can Make a Better Deal

Exporting GMOs and Importing Organic Threatens National Security

Screen_Shot_2017-06-29_at_6.47.25_AM.png

We understand that our administration wants to help the Midwest by having more GMO crops grown and sold to China. Last week, China approved two GMO crops, corn and soy, to be imported from the USA and fed to their livestock only. Now midwest USA chemical companies Monsanto and Dow can sell more GMO seed to China.

Is this really a good deal for America? Or are we risking our national security by poisoning our own country with GMO farming, to feed another?

Monsanto's Roundup Under Fire in CA

19055080_10155309113384590_1544510998883160619_o.jpg

I could not have been more grateful for our community than I was on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the California EPA Office of Environmental Health Hazzard Assesment hearing for the proposed safe level of glyphosate. At least 100 people attended, 40 of whom spoke from our side against the 5 from Monsanto's side, with clear facts, valid questions, passion, and commitment. Lawyers, scientists, a doctor, many mothers, grandmothers, and plaintiffs of the Monsanto lawsuit for non-Hodgkin Lymphoma pointed out the lack of thorough assessment and faults with the proposed 1100 micrograms per kilogram per day for a 70kg  (154 pounds) adults. Their statements were moving, accurate, and could transform the food supply and health in America.

What Level of Glyphosate is "Safe"?

California Guild & Moms Across America URGENT Call to ACTION!!!

NoSafeLevel2.jpg

CA EPA is holding a public hearing to determine amount of "safe" GLYPHOSATE exposures on CA PROP 65 Toxics List  Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Proposed level is 1100 micrograms No Significant Risk Level (NSRL)  to glyphosate ( an ingredient in RoundUp), on the State’s Prop 65 carcinogen list.  Studies show 1100 micrograms daily to be far too high an exposure level. In comparison chemical 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p -dioxin (TCDD), also on the Prop 65 list has a NSRL Of .000005 micrograms per day. Because glyphosate has been shown to bioaccumulate, and has been shown in the parts per trillion, to increase the growth of breast cancer cells, the reality is that there is no safe level.

Can you attend the hearing to support and/or speak on behalf of your family and the public?

June 7, 2017 Wednesday

12:30 seating, 1:00- 5:00pm hearing

NO Safe Level of Glyphosate Exposure to Humans or Animals

ACTION ALERT!

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has proposed a No Significant Risk Level (NSRL) of 1100mg per day for the chemical glyphosate to be adopted into regulation in Title 27, California Code of Regulations, section 25705.

Please comment on the Cal EPA- OEHHA page about the "safe level" of glyphosate that you want to be exposed to every day!
(Hint hint: ZERO)
https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/events/extension-comment-period-proposed-specific-regulatory-level-chemical-causing

Glyphosate herbicide has been found in tap water, our children's urine, mother's breastmilk, and childhood vaccines.

Glyphosate has been shown by Monika Kruger of Germany to bioaccumulate in bone marrow, muscle tissues etc.

Glyphosate has been shown to be a neurotoxin, chelator, antibiotic, and carcinogen which also causes liver disease.

One way glyphosate functions is by breaking down the blood-brain barrier and allowing other toxins ( such as those found in vaccines and herbicides) into the brain.

We MUST demand a ZERO safe level of glyphosate.

America's Largest Pension Fund Has Dumped a Fortune Into Monsanto Stock

Article was first seen on Alternet

Investing in a company that sells harmful products like the toxic herbicide Roundup is counter to CalPERS' mission.

I was recently informed by a former California public health employee, that CalPERS, the state's pension and health care fund, the largest in the nation, has invested $136 million in Monsanto.

As a California activist committed to healthy communities, I see this investment as a huge conflict of interest. For its health plan subscribers, the CalPERS mission to “advance the financial and health security” of the participants does not align with the detrimental effects of the toxic herbicide Roundup, Monsanto’s number-one product.

The day after finding out about this ill-advised investment, I sent a letter to CalPERS urging it to divest from Monsanto. They have not responded.

Concerned Californians should be outraged by this investment by CalPERS in Monsanto and the harm that inevitably impacts the very retirees CalPERS is responsible to protect.

Does Organic Cost Too Much?

Moms Across America has many low-income supporters who have stated that it seems too costly to go organic. But more and more, we are also hearing from underprivileged area moms who are making the effort and making it work within their budget.

greening_of_detroit.jpg

In fact, the first store in America to label food GMO was in Detroit, in the past one of the lowest income, most crime-ridden areas in the country. They have had other concerns, like violence, drugs, death and gangs that could trump food concerns. Recently, however, 20,000 volunteers a weekend are “greening” Detroit with over 1,200 organic urban farms and community solidarity is making a comeback! Americans see that genetically engineered and pesticide sprayed food contributes to mental illness, acts of violence, depression, poor school and job performance, etc. Doctors report that 90% of the children in low-income areas have diabetes and/or obesity. Allergies, autism and autoimmune disease is skyrocketing. It really is true that when moms say, "health comes first." Without health, we cannot function properly to do or enjoy other things in life like our career, schoolwork, family, and relationships.

Some "Healthy" Foods are Poisoning Us

Disturbing Toxin Test Results in American Children and Food Samples

Surprising Impact for Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian and Organic Consumers

For immediate release:

May 5, 2017 Mission Viejo, CA- Moms Across America releases their report on their recent findings of toxins in 36 American children, tested at Great Plains Lab, along with results from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency(CFIA). The results are disturbing and have an important message for Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian American consumers and food manufacturers.

“100% of all the children tested positive for serious toxins. 79% of the children tested had ADHD or autism symptoms, 21% did not. Over 50% tested positive levels of 3X higher than the average. We expected the children who ate organic to have lower levels of toxins than the children who did not. This was not the case for the majority of the children. Upon the release of the CFIA glyphosate data we realized why, and we hope consumer and food manufacturers take note of these important findings.” - Zen Honeycutt of Moms Across America.

Honeycutt focused primarily on glyphosate because scientists report that glyphosate increases the harmful impact of other environmental toxins, making the presence of the other 166 chemicals tested for, even more detrimental.
