As mothers, we are extremely concerned about the rise in childhood illness, including Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) in children and teens and our family members.
- Approximately 15,000 children are hospitalized every year in the U.S. with pediatric liver disease or disorders.
- An alarming statistic is that six million children—up to 10 percent of all children in the nation—have NAFLD, the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease we referred to earlier. NAFLD is the leading cause of chronic liver disease in children and adults in the United States.
You probably already know that 80% of genetically modified foods, which are in 85% of our processed foods in America, are engineered to withstand Roundup weedkiller. Many do not know, however, that Roundup is also sprayed as a drying agent on nonGMO, non-organic food, and feed crops, for example; wheat, garbanzo beans, lentils, dried beans, tea, sugar and many grains. The EPA allows this chemical product to be sprayed on 158 of our food and feed crops because they have been told it is safe by the manufacturer, they do not conduct their own tests. Food testing has shown levels from 29 ppb in beer, 1500 ppb on Cheerios, 3500 ppb on garbanzo beans, to 1.67 ppm on oatmeal baby food. It only takes 0.1 ppb to destroy gut bacteria and levels lower than what is allowed on our food cause liver damage. Glyphosate does not wash or peel off.
The problem is that the EPA's approval of glyphosate-based herbicides and Roundup is based on short-term toxicity studies on only the one declared "active chemical" ingredient, glyphosate. Glyphosate has long-term harmful impacts. It is a patented chelator, antibiotic, and is noted by the EPA to be a "reproductive effector" which "may cause liver and kidney disease". It is also a proven neurotoxin. Glyphosate is never used alone, however. The other formulations in Roundup and other glyphosate-based herbicides, which are also actually "active" have been shown to be 1000X more toxic. This fact is not being considered in the EPA's approval of Roundup and glyphosate-based herbicides. So any claims that glyphosate or Roundup are safe are unfounded.
In short, our citizens are being systematically poisoned through GMO and chemical farming with chemicals which have been proven to cause NAFLD and cause many other harmful effects.
It is important to ask:
Do your patients avoid pesticides and eat organic?
Do they use Roundup in their backyard gardens?
Does their homeowner's association or city landscapers spray glyphosate-based herbicides in their community?
We are attaching the new study regarding NAFLD. You can find dozens of other studies showing harm at www.momsacrossamerica.org/data.
Your team now has powerful information to use to support your patients. We hope you will reach thousands with this information and change lives across the nation. We believe, as an educational organization, that we all have a duty to the public to share information and give them the choice to utilize it in their lives or not.
Please let us know if you would like more information, a poster, flyers etc. to educate your network on the harms of glyphosate-based herbicides and the benefits of eating organic. Please also confirm that you received this email.
