A new study by Martin L. Pall of School of Molecular Biosciences, Washington State University, Pullman, WA - MDPI.com links toxic chemicals & EMF to autism causation - This study finds a causative link between 15 specific chemicals, electro-magnetic fields and autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).
Moms Across America Editor’s Note: This recent study delves into the complex interplay between perinatal development, intracellular calcium levels, and synaptogenesis disruption in autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). While these factors have been studied before, the research introduces a novel focus on six mechanisms that control synaptogenesis, each regulated by intracellular calcium. The authors suggest that the rise in autism cases may be linked to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and certain chemicals. This is because EMFs, through voltage-gated calcium channel activation, and chemicals, by elevating intracellular calcium levels, are implicated in ASD development. The study identifies 15 specific chemical classes associated with ASD and identified the specific receptor activation involved (the NMDA receptor). The study also highlights the chronic nature of ASDs, attributing it to a vicious cycle of biochemical reactions and epigenetic dysfunction. The research suggests potential approaches for ASD prevention or treatment, including EMF avoidance, chemical reduction, and dietary interventions to enhance Nrf2 levels. It also discusses the potential benefits of an enriched environment, vitamin D, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil. Research continues to confirm that exposure to toxic chemicals and EMFs really matter for child health and wellbeing. Moms Across America has reported on the autism-glyphosate link in the past and continues to meet with congress to advocate for banning these toxic agro-chemicals. |
