Arby's Petition

Total Count: 1,535

Dear CEO and Board of Arby’s,

Moms Across America, a nationwide non-profit, initiated an extensive testing program on the top twenty fast food brands in America, including Arby’s, plus one restaurant, California’s In-N-Out Burger. Forty-two samples of 21 brands were tested for the most widely used herbicide in the world, glyphosate and AMPA.

The Results

Arby's_logo.pngArby’s had the second highest level of glyphosate of all brands tested.

Arby’s glyphosate total levels were 223.33 parts per billion (ppb) total for two types of sandwiches, Classic Chicken Sandwich and the ARBY'S Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwich. This is 4862% higher than Chipolte’s meals tested at 4.65 ppb. This level of glyphosate in Arby’s sandwiches is 223,230% higher than the amount (.1 ppb) that has been found to cause severe organ damage, specifically liver disease and cancerous tumors, in animal studies.

Séralini, GE., Clair, E., Mesnage, R. et al. Republished study: long-term toxicity of a Roundup herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize. Environ Sci Eur 26, 14 (2014). https://doi.org/10.1186/s12302-014-0014-5.

Moms Across America requests that Arby’s take these results very seriously and make immediate changes to its sourcing.

We request that Arby’s alert your suppliers that you will be transitioning to sourcing grains for your sandwich bread and wheat products from suppliers who do not spray their wheat crops with glyphosate or any other toxic agrochemicals. This is essential for basic human health at any level of consumption of your food.

High levels of glyphosate, a known carcinogen, specifically linked to childhood leukemia, endocrine disrupting, liver and kidney disease causing neurotoxin, is unacceptable and must be on your “No, No List.”

We ask Arby’s to lead the way with organically and regeneratively grown wheat products to support the health of your customers, the soil, and our great country.

Thank you,

Sincerely Moms Across America

Background

Why we tested fast food:

Fast food is consumed by eighty-five million Americans each day, and many chains are often the suppliers of school lunches. Thirty million school meals are served to our children each day, and for millions of underprivileged children, these toxic meals are their only access to nutrition. Our previous testing has shown that America’s school lunches are indeed toxic.

To further investigate the status of a major source of food and nutrition in America, Mamás en toda América supporters, including Children’s Health Defense, the Centner Academy, and many individual supporters, recently initiated extensive testing focused specifically on America’s most popular fast food chains to explore the potential contamination of our food supply, which is likely affecting our physical and mental health.

I don’t eat fast food because I’m a personal and private chef. I make my food every day, and my kids eat more healthy food than I cook for them. 🧑‍🍳😉
